“Some voices have that intangible quality that makes them instantly recognisable. The velvety rich baritone of Brendan Dugan is one such voice. Most singers can't even think to the low notes he can reach, although his familiar tone evolved a few years after his television debut. Fresh-faced Brendan Dugan won ‘Studio One - New Faces’ as a 16-year-old in 1968 and became a star overnight in New Zealand.” (Audio Culture)
However it was other TV programmes Like TVNZ’s ‘Country Touch’, that was hosted by Tex Morton, and ‘That’s Country’, which debuted in 1980, that made Brendan Dugan a household name in New Zealand. The early 1980s saw the first of many trips to the United States for the International Country & Western Music Association Awards in Fort Worth, Texas, with Kiwi Country Artists, including one that Australians will be familiar with, Patsy Riggir. Later trips brought appearances on TV shows such as ‘Nashville Now’ and ‘The Barbara Mandrell Show’, engagements at all manner of honky tonks, and a performance on the ‘Grand Ole Opry’ in Nashville. In 1992, Dugan released his first solo album since 1985. One of the songs was by Brendan’s old mate, the late Ritchie Pickett.
The song, ‘Honky Tonk Heroes’, tells of all the passed loved big country stars jamming in heaven and was re-mastered and recently released on the Kiwi Country TV - Compilation ‘Best Kept Kiwi Secrets’. With a career spanning 50 years Brendan can still pack a club and theatre with full houses in New Zealand. Brendan Dugan releases a new single into Australia ' Honky Tonk Heroes' with a music video.

New Zealand’s beloved legacy band The Narcs announce the release of a new single and music video Summerhill Stone. The Narcs released their new single on itunes in early March to coincide with the band’s appearance, on their own home turf at Canterbury’s Selwyn Sounds Festival, before a crowd of 15,000. Summerhill Stone comes alive with the release of a new music video. Summerhill Stone was a brand of coloured concrete brick popular for affordable housing in 1950s and 60s Christchurch - it came in many pastel colours and never needed painting. The Narcs’ new single drives the listener around Bishopdale and the old suburbs of western Christchurch. It’s where you grew up, the conformity you rebelled against, what you moved away from, and it’s still there. Over the band’s 38 year career, The Narcs have attracted new fans with their fusion of South Island and Sydney-drenched rock’n’roll. From playing their first gig in Christchurch in 1980, the band has had a slew of radio and video hits including “Heart and Soul”, “Lazy Susan”, ‘Diamonds on China’ and ‘Abandoned By Love’. The Narcs’ recording legacy includes three studio albums: ‘The Great Divide’ (1984), also a name that the band was marketed in Australia, whilst there they recorded the self titled album ‘The Narcs’ (1986) at the famed music farm studio in Mullumbimby under legendary producer Tim Kramer and finally “Push The Boat Out” (1996), and a compilation “Best of The Narcs” (2002). Summerhill Stone now sets the band to return, with more recorded works, and to enjoy the current resurgence and popularity of legacy bands of the 80s’. The Narcs will once again perform live to the audiences that loved them and grew up with their sounds. https://www.facebook.com/TheNarcsNZ/

Tony Lee started his musical interest by singing along with his mum while she played the piano. He has a brief stint learning piano as well, and joined the school choir in Intermediate school. It wasn't until he turned 21 that he started taking a real interest in playing guitar and discovered that he had an ability to write songs and sing (although he had to give up smoking to assist with his vocals). This ability slowly progressed from playing in a covers band and progressed into an originals band called Ward 19, writing rock songs tinged with a bit of punk and country influence. Tony Lee's debut solo album was 'Road Less Travelled'. The album received high accolades in the press with critics loving Tony's 'wear your heart on your sleeve' approach to songwriting. His music video for 'All that a man can do" has been internationally recognised by making the semi finals in the ISC (International Songwriting Competition) and by getting nominated in the music video category at the Limelight Film awards in London. The video was produced by Neil Whitman who had made video's for Chris Rea and Robbie Williams. Tony has refined his sound in his second studio album called 'So far from the truth', adding more country arrangement and foot stomping rock to his repertoire. Tony is releasing his new single 'So Far From the Truth' on CRS #207 May 7th. Official Website: https://www.tonyleeband.net/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Tonyleeband/

"I am a storyteller, I love to write, especially poems and song lyrics. After retiring I attended a workshop with Allan Caswell and wrote three songs on the train home. I googled up recording studio, one came up in the USA, I sang into a tape and sent them off to be recorded by a session artist. One won the Professional Category of the NT Country Song writing Competition. A $1000.00 cheque, a trophy and a certificate, I was immediately hooked on writing and competitions. Being a non performing songwriter, I used session singers and musicians at first (still do occasionally) but now usually work with singer/songwriters. I and my co writers have won a number of National, International and Finalist Awards in Country, Alternative, Pop and Spiritual genres including: Australian Songwriters Association: Australian Song of The Year and a number of Top Ten Awards, including three this year (2017) SongsAlive Australia Spiritual/Gospel Song of The Year Tamworth Songwriters and Salute Awards Finalist. Six songs through to the semi finals (2018) International Song writing Contest (USA): Christian Song of The Year , International Song writing Contest (USA): Pop Song of The Year International Song writing Contest (USA): 3rd Top Five All Genres. A number of my co writers have or are about to release our songs, including 'Just Down The Hall' a Kevin Bennett co-write released by Kalesti Butler after 14 weeks in the charts is still between 1 and 5. Lola intimates “I was in the room just down the hall and have carried this story in my heart for many years always wanting to make it a memorial to the young mother who died that night.” Lola was so moved by her personal experience, of laying in her hospital bed and hearing an aboriginal woman left outside to give birth on the doorstep, that she was compelled to write this song. Lola gives a positive edge to a tragic story of remembering hearing the elders singing the spirit of the Aboriginal woman home. Hearing Kalesti’s honest and emotional delivery of ‘Just down the Hall’ highlights her understanding and respect for this heartfelt experience. You can definitely hear the Kevin Bennett stamp on this beautifully produced country track, coupled with the distinct and cleverly woven lyrics of Lola Brinton. Kalesti Butler is a leading multi award winning Australian independent country artist. Kalesti has charted in Australia and she peaked at #2 on the Australian Top 40 Country Tracks Chart with her single 'Just Down The Hall' remaining there for 3 weeks. Kevin Greaves is part of a New Zealand Country music Dynasty. His father, the legendary Rusty Greaves, played the Grand Ole Opry 11 times in his career, as one of New Zealand's pioneering legends of country music, along with his good friends Tex Morton and Jack Riggir. 'Daddy’s Radio' was co-written by a friend of Kevin’s, Chris Dubois, one of Nashville’s most successful songwriters, along with Billy Yates. Reflected in the song is an almost true to life story about a father and son’s relationship and the memories created through songs, for Kevin, it was as if the song was written for him. My dad passed away in 1998 due to some complications while having some tests in hospital. I sing this as a tribute to him, the music he sung, and what I heard on his radio. I enjoyed every minute of listening with him, whether it be his favourites from Tex Morton, Buddy Williams or Slim, or listening to his Nashville buddies like Hank Snow and Lefty Frizzell, or in the 70’s with Haggard and Conway Twitty. I’d give anything to listen to my daddy’s radio again". Kevin Greaves new single 'Daddy's Radio' is available as a digital track on CRS. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kevingreavesmusic/

For the men who fought in Vietnam, some who went willingly, and others that the government made the decision for them. Our involvement in the Vietnam action ended in 1972, but our troops weren’t given a welcome home parade until 1987. ‘ANZAC HERO’ was written to give those men, who fought and died, the recognition they deserve.
